Dirutily Quick Reference Sheet
──────────────────────────────
F1 -- COPY
Copy files to destination path given. If path does not exist, you will
be prompted to create the subdirectory. File overwrite protection is
an option in the profile. If the target disk is full, it will look for
smaller marked files to copy to utilize as much disk space as possible.
F2 -- DELETE
Deletes files and empty subdirectories.
F3 -- RENAME
Renames files or subdirectories. An * can be used as a place holder for
either the file name or extension. This will also work on marked files.
F4 -- MOVE
Move files to destination path given. If path does not exist, you will
be prompted to create the subdirectory. File overwrite protection is
an option in the profile. If the target disk is full, it will look for
smaller marked files to move to utilize as much disk space as possible.
F5-F9 -- SORT
Will sort the directory according to the function key you select. You can
select a default sort option in the profile.
F10 -- NEW DISK/PATH
Allows you to load a new directory and or drive.
ESC -- QUIT/ABORT
Will abort any operation you are being prompted for. It will also abort
any operation being preformed on marked files. If it is pressed when no
operation has been selected, you will be exited to DOS.
ENTER -- LOAD DIRECTORY/BROWSE
If the current line is a <DIR> entry, that subdirectory will be loaded. If
the current line is a file, it will browsed if a browse utility was defined
in the profile.
Some Helpful Hints:
- When you are in a subdirectory, you can put the bounce bar on the " . "
subdirectory entry and reload the current directory. If you press Enter on
the " .. " subdirectory entry, the parent directory of the current directory
will be loaded.
- To locate a file name or subdirectory name fast, push the first character
of the file name and you will be placed on the first file name starting with
that character. Press it again and you will be placed on the next file that
begins with that character and so on. You can also use a "." to locate the
"." and ".." entries. If you have the directory sorted by extension and you
press a character, first subdirectories starting with that character are
searched for then it will search for file extensions.
- The Tab key works just like the down arrow key to scroll the list down.
- Shift + Tab key works just like the up arrow key to scroll the list up.
- Copy Dirutily.Exe and the profile to a ram disk for faster loading.
- Put the following command in your Autoexec.Bat so Dirutily can find the
profile. Reboot to make this change take effect.
Example: SET DIRUTILY=D:\DIRUTILY.PRO
- Run Dirucust utility to incorporate the profile into Dirutily, then you don't
have to worry about loading the profile and it will speed up Dirutily loading.
